TIFF

TIFF is short for Tagged Image File Format this is a file type and a format for storing and saving pictures. This format is used by different graphic artists and also people that do a lot of publishing (publishing industry). Tiff files are quite large and have high quality. The largest TIFF files is mainly 4GB in memory, reason being is so graphic artists can fit massive files into them.

GIF

GIF is short for Graphics Interchange Format a GIF file is a bitmap format. This file type supports 8 different bits per pixel it also is a compressed image format. This file format is a lossless compression method. Lossless only allows a certain approximate amount of the original data to be reconstructed. Lossless is used in a number of different applications, the one that is most popular is the zip file format.

JPEG

JPEG is short for Joint Photographic Experts Group, JPEG images can contain colourful and high-resolution image data this is a lossy format, which basically means some quality is lost when the image is compressed. If the image is compressed too much, the graphics become noticeable and some of the detail is lost.

PNG

PNG is short for Portable Network Graphics, PNG is a file format for image compressions that is expected to replace the GIF that is used on today's Internet. The GIF format and its usage in image handling involves licensing. Web users can make, view, and send GIF files whenever they want but they can't develop software that builds them without an arrangement with Unisys.
